How spicy is 'spicy'?
The low-down on the Unyoked 'Adventure Levels', so you can get just the experience you're looking for.
If you've reached our Journal, there's a high chance you've had a poke about our cabin listings and noticed our little spice rating next to every listing.
And if you're anything like us, you're probably wondering what that really means. Like, are we really parachuting you into the middle of nowhere, and is that really something you want to do to relax? Or is there a bigger story here?
Well, let us assuage your fears and give you some less chilli-infused context, so you can feel confident in choosing your next nature session.
Why are Unyoked cabins remote?
Extremely good question. Being out in remote wilderness is a key founding feature of the Unyoked experience. Immersion in nature has loads of benefits, but the cliff notes are the three C's:
Compassion: Being exposed to natural environments increases positive emotions, ignites our sense of awe and enhances our compassion for others.
Creativity: Spending time immersed in a natural environment and disconnecting from technology enhances creativity and improves problem solving skills by up to 50%.
Cognition: Exposure to nature compared to urban environments is associated with improved attention, capacity to switch from one task to another, and memory.
TLDR: getting yourself out there and away from it all is great for your soul, body and mind.
Pretty good deal for a short drive or train ride, we reckon.
But like, how remote are they, really?
Not to toot our own horn, but the amazing thing about our nature locations is that you can be fully bathed in nature within a few hours of your capital city. You could spend more time getting to or from work in peak hour traffic. IF you're in a nearby town, it could be even closer than that.
We want you to leave behind all the stress (see: peak hour traffic) of the city behind, so check the reception icons before you book if staying in touch is super important.
The ratings explained
For us, it really comes down to three key things:
Length of walk/hike to arrive;
Steepness of walk/hike to arrive, and;
Level of remoteness.
The spiciness helps you know what kind of level of off-grid experience you're in for. The adventure level grades are:
Mild
Medium
Spicy
Extra Spicy
If you want an easy stroll, look for a mild or medium cabin, but if you want to go a bit Chuck Norris, spicy or extra spicy are what you're looking for.
I still have chilli-related questions.
That's cool! We want to make sure your voyage out to nature is a great one. If you have specific needs or need help choosing the right cabin, contact our team at hello@unyoked.co
