What it feels like to get Unyoked, as told by you

Because sometimes you need to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

We love to talk about how great it is to get out into nature and its frankly epic effects in helping you reset, slow down and find a place all for yourself. But sometimes you need to hear it from the horse's mouth (nb: in some of our wilder locations you will actually see horses), so we thought we'd ask some recent city escapees what to expect from a wilderness session with us.

You'll hit reset on old habits

"We enjoyed it immensely, we did a full technology ban, leaving phones in the car—we even covered up the clock in the cabin. Not knowing the time was a hugely cathartic experience for me and not one I'd considered before we got out there. I was waking up around 5 AM with the sun and not checking the clock to see if I should be feeling tired or groggy. No screens before bed also meant I slept through the whole night, which I haven't done in years. All round a phenomenal experience that we are determined to make a regular part of our lives."

Sam at Ruby, North Norfolk, England, UK

You'll find a place to yourself

“I felt so at peace and relaxed. For the first time, I felt like I could think clearly. Did yoga and meditation for the first time too!”

Sarah at Anant, Central Gippsland, VIC, AU

You’ll do nothing

“I love doing nothing. Consciously doing nothing. As there was nothing to do, but cook, rest and take in nature. It's easy to get away and fill your time doing things then come back feeling not that rested. This was different.”

Angus at Whetu, Raglan, Waikato, North Island, NZ

You'll go exploring

“I felt nostalgic — like a kid again, exploring a new place for the first time.”

Mitch at Kaia, Blue Mountains, NSW, AU

You'll get a sense of adventure

“We are 80, so couldn't recommend this to most of our generation, but for us unusually adventurous ones we loved it—even the somewhat arduous walk in with heavy wheelbarrow! We loved the great introduction, the build up of expectation, the small details… all of this was what we were looking for and it was fulfilled. The steps were a bit tricky for 80-year-olds, but we were careful. We've always loved small cabins and camping, so nothing really daunted us. Nothing missing or broken except our hearts when we left!”

Tim @ Jude, Avoca, VIC, AU

You'll find a new home away from home

“My partner and I are obsessed with Unyoked stays. There is nothing we love more than the solitude and pure bliss that your cabins allow us to experience. When I think of ‘my happy place’, I imagine myself sat on the porch of an Unyoked cabin, overlooking the awe-inspiring view of unending nature and listening to ‘sounds from the field’ — utterly beautiful.”

Ben and Tara at Santi, Hallston, VIC, AU
