What to pack when you're cabin-bound with your furry friend

Planning a stay at a dog-friendly cabin? Our ultimate checklist has everything you need to ensure your pup enjoys the adventure as much as you do.

You know what you need (and if you don't, we've given you a list in your app). But what about for your significant other? That's right, we're talking about your pooch. With more dog-friendly cabins than ever, we're making it easier to bring your canine companion on your next adventure. To help, we've put together a handy packing checklist to ensure they have as awesome a time in the wilderness as you do.

Why a Long Lead is Essential for Your Dog's Adventure

This one's handy if you want your good boy to go roaming around but don't particularly trust him to find his way back after galloping into a nearby field. It's good to have either way, but especially if your pooch isn't one that spends heaps of time outdoors.

Bring Extra Towels for Your Stay in a Dog-Friendly Cabin

We don't love dogs on our beds—there are loads of hygiene and other boring reasons we won't waste your time with. We know this can be tricky as they might be used to it at home, so please bring additional blankets to cover the bed if you can't stop them from jumping up.

Pack a Portable Dog Bed for Comfort

See above—we’d really prefer if your dog doesn’t sleep on the bed itself. A portable dog bed will go a long way. There are loads of options on the market, and you probably have one at home or know someone you can borrow one from.

Don’t Forget Your Dog’s Food

To make your stay in one of our dog-friendly cabins stress-free, pack enough of your dog's regular food. Whether they enjoy bacon and egg sarnies cooked on an open flame or prefer their usual chow, a well-fed pup is a happy pup.

Bring a Bowl for Food and Water

To eat said food out of or drink water from. Our bowls are for humans—sorry, Fido!

Some Other Things to Note:

Keep your dog on a lead. To keep your furry friend safe, always keep them on a lead.
No scratching. To avoid repairs, please ensure your dog doesn't scratch or damage the fly screens.
Check your pup is up-to-date with tick medication before you venture out into a new area with them.
Pick up poop. #2's can go straight down the composting loo with yours—please no compostable bags, though; they take forever to break down.
Do not leave your pet in the cabin unattended. It’s a big no-no to leave your dog in the cabin and go out for the day. Please leave them at home if you cannot have them with you at all times.
