Over time, there are things that change and others that stay solid. Take Superman, for instance. When we were growing up, he was the one. Born on another planet, sent to save this one, all wile wearing patriotic spandex suits. You couldn't escape the guy. The Man of Steel was everywhere.
These days, all our superheroes are anti-heroes. The Joker got his own film that won a bunch of awards, Batman get angrier every time he's on screen and even Spiderman is losing his good graces. The Man Of Steel, meanwhile, is fading from relevance. Arguably, there hasn't been a good Superman film in well over ten years. But you know the great thing about steel? It lasts forever. Even if you only turn to it once in a blue moon, it's still there, strong as a rock.
